Fall 2010 Midterm

Directions: Write a detailed response to the question below in essay form. An "good enough" response will be a minimum of 5 pages. Your grade will be based on how well you incorporate the reading assignments into your response.

Discuss the Enlightenment and the political, economic, social, and cultural factors that contributed to its origins. How did the Enlightenment influence European attitudes towards eighteenth-century society? Were their any underlying ideas that unified Enlightenment philosophy?
